Main Infrastructure
Under our new proposals the main dual carriage vehicle access point into Napier Park remains off Kimpton Road and will run to the left of the water Cascade and Park, providing a natural barrier between the commercial elements of the site to the east, from the residential area to the west.
The proposed new masterplan will benefit from an internal loop road, providing two routes to the majority of the development. The loop road will also improve bus accessibility by reducing the walking distance to bus stops and providing a simple circular service. Previous transport assessments have indicated adequate capacity on site.
Public Transport
Under the existing consented plans, Napier Park is accessible by public transport, cycling and on foot. However, the new proposals make further improvements for those wishing to travel by these modes of transport.
A new bus lane on Kimpton Road will increase reliability and punctuality of buses travelling towards London Luton Airport. It will also provide improved stopping facilities for the Luton to Dunstable Busway along the Napier Park frontage.

Cycle & Pedestrian Routes
The proposed pedestrian and cycle routes provided within Napier Park, are both direct and attractive helping to encourage sustainable modes of transport.
A new footway and cycleway will be provided between the raised pedestrian crossing on Kimpton Road and the existing cycle route to the town centre that runs adjacent to the railway line. We will also be looking to provide direct access from the residential elements of the site to the existing cycle route into the town centre.
Our new plans propose to move the main cycle route off the main access road, as was previously planned, and create a dedicated footpath and cycleway through the park. |
