Residential
The residential element of Stirling Place is divided into two distinctly different types, with units above the retail components and units arranged around a large landscaped courtyard to the east of the site providing a more private neighbourhood.
The height of the residential accommodation varies across the site, reducing visual impact and allowing sunlight to penetrate further into the courtyard. |
The main residential accommodation to the east has also been moved further away from the Chamber Business to reflect its listed building status. |
Undercroft parking provides secure parking close to each unit with the added benefit of lifting the lowest level of the occupied areas above the possible future bus route and turning area. |
Their appearance is intended to be contemporary yet respond sensitively to both the character of the nearby buildings of architectural interest and the broader local vernacular. |
The external appearance provides a contemporary interpretation of the importance of Luton and Bedfordshire red and blue bricks as used in the Chamber Business. |
Render panels will reflect the tones and hues of the bricks, stepped sections at the ends and corners to reflect the quoins, stone coloured surrounds to the entrances and a distinct difference between the elevation to the courtyard and the perimeter of the site. |
